Vijay Mallya loses leave to appeal against extradition in the UK Supreme Court

The famous Indian tycoon, Vijay Mallya has lost his plea in the UK Supreme Court to appeal against his extradition. He would be sent back to India after a period of 24 days. Mallya is currently facing charges for money laundering in India.

Legal experts think that he could claim COVID-19 and positive cases tested on Arthur Road as an escape route. He could also approach the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) claiming there wasn’t a fair trial. Indian courts would have to convince ECHR that the conditions in Arthur Jail has improved since Mallya had a problem with it prior to this.
