RAJASTHAN HIGH COURT TAKES SUO MOTU COGNIZANCE ON MYSTERIOUS DEATH OF MIGRANT BIRDS

The High Court of Rajasthan while taking suo motu cognizance of the death of migratory birds in the Sambhar Lake has directed the State Government to remove the carcasses and conduct post mortem of the dead migratory birds to find out the reason behind their deaths.

The division bench comprising of Chief Justice Indrajit Mahanty and Justice Satish Kumar Sharma has further sought a report on the state’s policy to prevent unnatural deaths of migratory and local birds in the Sambhar Lake area. The bench has also directed the State Government to set up a temporary nursery near the lake which is to be used for the treatment of injured and sick birds.

The bench has posted the matter for next hearing on July 3.
