Subodh Kumar Jaiswal has been named the new Director of the CBI.

For a two-year term, Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, Director General of CISF and an IPS officer from Maharashtra cadre’s 1985 batch, has been selected as the new head of the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Following a series of discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Justice of India, and leader of the opposition Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Monday, the government announced its Decision.

After Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramanna highlighted the Supreme Court’s March 2019 instructions, issued in response to an application by retired IPS officer Prakash Singh, made it clear that no officer with less than six months to retire should be selected a state police chief, at least two contenders were kicked out of competition.

Jaiswal rose through the ranks of the Mumbai police department to become the state’s police head until being selected for a central assignment previously this year.He has, though, working in the IB and RAW, rather than the CBI.
