The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to K Raghu Rama Krishna Raju, a Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Andhra Pradesh. He was granted bail on the ground that he might have been ill treated while in the custody as his medical reports indicate the same.
He belonged to Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party(YSRCP).
The YSRCP party leader was arrested on May 14 on the charges of sedition for alleged hate speeches against certain communities.
He was now directed by the court to not to show his injuries to the media or to give any interviews regarding any aspect of this case.
Senior advocate, Mukul Rohtagi, appearing from the side of the MP, said that “all this happened to a sitting Member of Parliament and all the allegations were proven in the medicial report itself, and all this is done to a sitting MP, then what would have been done to a common man.”
Moreover, it was contended by Rohtagi that the charges of sedition was added to make it difficult for him to have the bail granted.
