A Bench of Justices SJ Kathawalla and SP Tavade of the Bombay High Court sat for over 12 hours for hearing cases on 19 May.
The Bench of both the judges heard 80 cases which included release of prisoners, bail applications, child custody, demolition of structures related matters, copyright and trademark matters, and few public interest litigation petitions on COVID issues.
It also passed orders in the bail applications filed by Bhima Koregaon accused Father Stan Swamy and Hany Babu.
The Bench didn’t even stopped hearing cases for lunch. This is not the first time Justice Kathawalla has sat beyond working hours. In May 2018, a day before the vacation, Justice Kathawalla as a single judge had sat till 3.30 am to finish over 120 matters in day without taking a break.
