Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education (IDIA) has joined hands with organisations and individuals to facilitate aid to all the needy people in the State of West Bengal amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Keeping in mind that there is rapid increase in the cases of COVID-19 villages where there is little infrastructure and support, IDIA has initiated the following efforts.
Isolation centres in villages-
These isolation centres will be set up in rural areas for patients with mild symptoms of COVID-19. IDIA will be providing all the basic medical facilities to self-isolate and doctors will be available on video call.
In case condition deteriorates , patients will be moved to hospital.
In the Sundarbans, many remote villages can be best accessed through the waterways. IDIA will be meeting the needs of these villagers by setting up boat ambulances as currently people are using public transport to cross rivers.
Database of resources for West Bengal-
IDIA has also arranged a database of resources for certain districts of West Bengal that contains leads for hospital beds, oxygen cylinders and concentrators, plasma/blood donation centres, ambulance services, Covid testing centres, home care facilities, online doctor consultations, and meals delivery services.
These all will be useful for those fighting COVID-19.
IDIA will also be taking the following relief efforts:
*Launching COVID-19 sensitization drives along with distribution of masks, soaps, etc.
*Establishing blood donation camps.
*Organizing medical tests, including oximeter checks, at centres in rural West Bengal.
