After TMC’s landslide victory in the results of the West Bengal Assembly elections, reports of violence from some areas of the state have also come to the fore.
On Sunday evening, some people set fire to a BJP office in Arambagh in Hooghly district. The BJP blamed TMC workers for this but the TMC denied it.
TMC supporters surrounded the BJP office in Hastings and shouted slogans, but the police removed them from the spot after some time. The Election Commission has banned the victory procession and celebrations because of the Corona infection.
A police officer from Hooghly said that so far no one has been arrested in this case.
Mamta Banerjee appealed to supporters gathered outside her residence to return home and not take any celebrations or victory processions after TMC indicated a majority in the election results. She asked supporters and activists to take precautions with the Corona infection.
