If orders are not uploaded by next working day, you can question us why it has not been done: Madras High Court

Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, Sanjib Banerjee ina case asked the counsels to question their accountability in case there is any delay in uploading court orders online.

Sanjib Banerjee gave this statement when a state counsel requested him to pass an order directing uploading of court orders on the website by tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

To which Sanjib Banerjee, said that “Why not this evening? This is an open invitation. If the order is not uploaded by the following working day, you can question us why it is not done”.He observed that orders should ordinarily be uploaded online by evening on the same day it is passed.

But he also said that at times, there can be corrections or revisions to be made which could delay the uploading of the order, he noted. In such cases, the orders would be uploaded by the next working day.

The Court was hearing a petition moved against the pollution of the river Amaravati. In the last, he added that, “If it is not done by next working day, you can come and question us why it has not been done”.
