Litigants should be able to file cases from anywhere and anytime. Judges should also be able to conduct hearings through video conferencing, in-person or in-writing.
The e-court project which was launched in 2005 aims to digitise courts across the country. The project is managed by the apex court’s e-committee headed by Justice DY Chandrachud.
In phase-3 of project, the aim is to have a national repository for legal precedents from all courts.
It also aims to build a digital case registry. The e-filing method is proposed to be expanded to private complaints before a magistrate.
