Supreme Court Seeks Views On Live Streaming And Transcripts Of Proceeding

Litigants should be able to file cases from anywhere and anytime. Judges should also be able to conduct hearings through video conferencing, in-person or in-writing.

The e-court project which was launched in 2005 aims to digitise courts across the country. The project is managed by the apex court’s e-committee headed by Justice DY Chandrachud.

In phase-3 of project, the aim is to have a national repository for legal precedents from all courts.

It also aims to build a digital case registry. The e-filing method is proposed to be expanded to private complaints before a magistrate.

It will also enable tagging of related cases, enhance visibility of case status and will help in collaboration and analysis of data
