Allahabad High court grants bail to student who participated in anti-CAA protest

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court granted bail to student activist who was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police police for participating in a protest against the citizenship amendment Act (CAA)While giving bail the single bench judge mohd Faiz Alam khan says that he is student and doesn’t have any criminal antecedents and it would not serve any useful purpose by further detention of the student in jail.

The application for bail was moved by Nitin raj who was charged under section 145,147,149,353,283,505(B) of the Indian penal code(IPC),section 7 of criminal Law amendment Act and section 66 of the Information Technology Act.

It is to be noted here that he was previously released from prison in view of COVID-19 pandemic after which he surrendered before the trial court in January 12.

The court also noted that during his release during the pandemic no complaint of any kind was made against him.

After taking all the contentions into consideration the Court ruled that there was no need to keep the applicant behind bars and granted him Bail.
