The Saket Court Complex, New Delhi, ruled in favor of the Tablighi jamaat members and ordered that the actual passports of 31 members of the Tablighi Jamaat acquitted earlier on 20 December 2020, for whom the Supreme Court ordered the government to ensure their return to their native places on 13 January.
The case was brought by 31 members of foreign Tablighi Jamaat that were acquitted by this Court while participating in the Tablighi Jamaat event in Nizamuddin Markaz, Delhi, facing charges under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, Sections 270 and 271 under the IPC, Epidemic Act, Disaster Management Act and many other regulations for allegedly breaching guidelines relating to the COVID-19.
The court ordered the issuance of the original passports to the appropriate applicants or their counsel in return for an appropriate acknowledgment, in accordance with the rules, After proper verification of their identity.
