A Delhi city court granted 3-days of judicial custody to Disha Ravi, climate activist who was allegedly arrested for sharing a tool kit on social media in connection with the farmers protest.
The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Akash Jain sent her to jail, after the Delhi Police wanted three days of judicial custody.
The police wanted custody as during the course of investigation, when she was put under a five-day police custody, she had been evasive and had tried to shift the blame on the co-accused.
Additionally, the Delhi High Court on Friday ordered that the Delhi Police has to ensure that there is no leakage of any documents relating to its investigation into the FIR against Ms. Ravi.
However, the court ruled that the police could conduct press briefings in relation to the case “as per law” so long as no rights of her are violated.
The court further stated that media houses shall ensure that the telecast/broadcast by them is from verified/ authenticated sources, though the sources need not be revealed.
The channel editors shall also ensure that the channels exercise proper editorial control so that Ms. Ravi’s investigation is not hampered, in any manner.
