PIL filed in Supreme Court of India asking arrest of Srilankan Naval Personals for killing Indian Fishermens

PIL has been filed in the Apex Court asking for the arrest of Srilankan Naval Officers and Personnells who have allegedly killed 4 Indian Fishermen on January 18 2021.

The appellant has submitted that the four fishermen had set out for fishing from Pudukkottai district on January 18 and did not come back, later on a search operation was undertaken by Indian Coast Guard, a naval ship and helicopter on his direction and received information through fishermen that the four (missing) fishermen have unfortunately died due to attack by Sri Lankan Navy.

The petitioner has further contended and asserted that for the past 30 years, civil war is going on between the Tamilians and Srilankan Government. Whereas, due to the repurcussion of this civil war, thousands of innocent Tamil people have been murdered and brutally killed.

The petitioner has sought direction to be given to the Srilankan Government to provide compensation of atleast Rs. 5 Crore to each families of the 4 murdered Indian Fishermen and further take all the necessary steps to protect the Tamil Nadu Fishermen and their properties from Srilankan Navy and avoid such unfortunate incidents in future.
