A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the High Court of Delhi looking directions for the Union of India for expulsion of Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan’s voice from Covid-19 caller tune. The PIL states that the Bachchan neither has the “perfect history” nor has “served” the country through “social work”.
The PIL refers to earlier cases filed against Bachchan that by very virtue of those matters having been filed against Bachchan, the entertainer is “not suitable” for such “service” while also “charging an amount for the same”.
The cases mentioned include a writ petition filed by the National Organization for Tobacco Eradicate in the High Court of Bombay for supposed infringement of the Anti-Tobacco Act by Bachchan for endorsing e-cigarettes of “Anchor Company”; and a petition pending adjudication on maintainability moved by Bachchan challenging the declaration of farming land allotment to him, in the Allahabad High Court.
It also cites a news article where a prime witness of 1984 sikh riots has asked, why FIR has not filed against Bachchan for allegedly provoking a rioter even though there was a footage seen by “everyone” on Doordarshan .
