Patna HC quashes criminal proceedings of foreign nationals accused in Tablighi Jamaat

tA Single Judge bench of Justice Rajeev Ranjan Prasad of the Patna High Court quashed criminal proceedings against nationals of Bangladesh, Malaysia and Australia who had visited the Nizamudin Markaz held in Delhi.

The court said that ” there is absolutely no material in the case diary to even prima-facie suggest that these foreign nationals had indulged in preaching of their religious ideologies or that they had addressed any congregation on the ‘Markaz’ and the ‘Mosque’ Platform.”

The criminal proceedings were initiated after the Bihar Police had registered FIRs against them on the charges of “getting involved in the spread of religious ideologies” after entering the country on a tourist visa just after the lockdown was announced and failing to furnish information regarding their visit…#lawcutor#legalupdates #lawnews #covid19 #lockdown #legalnews #currentaffairs #tablighijamaat #nizamudinmarkaz #delhi #bihar #patnahighcourt #fir #criminal #crime #markaz
