A notice has been issued to the Central Government, Kerala Government and 11 Syrian church bodies after a pertition had been filed here in the Supreme Court challenging the mandatory confessions in the church in the southern state.
The notice has been issued by the CJI S.A. Bobde after Senior advocate Sanjay Parikh submitted that the Kerala High Court has restrained from passing an order on this issue.
The petitioner and other members of the church alleged that the practice was leading to several problems like Sexual exploitation of the women and blackmailing.
