Today, the Supreme Court clarified that there is no basis for state government authorities to paste posters of Covid outside the home of the patient.
The Supreme Court bench of Justice Ashok Bhushan, Justice R Subhash Reddy and Justice M.R. Shah stated that Such posters can only be affixed by states when clear directions are given by the competent authorities under the DMA.
Last week the Court reserved its order opposing the placement of posters outside the homes of Covid-19 patients on grounds of prejudice against them.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta was asked by Justice Bhushan whether the government could issue a state-wise advisory that the states should not obey such actions, to which Mehta said that a central government advisory had already been provided to the states.
