The Single Judge Bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy in the month of August held that the CBI probe into the FIR lodged against actress Rhea Chakraborty with regards to The death of Sushant Singh Rajput was lawful in nature. The Apex Court’s approval was also asked for by the Centre to involve the CBI and Enforcement Directorate in this matter and all evidence was to be handed over by the Mumbai Police to the CBI.
Therein followed a media trial of Rhea Chakraborty and subsequently a lot of controversies came to light. Recently she has been released on bail.
Puneet Kaur Dhanda filed the petition which states that since the Supreme Court handed over the investigation in the case to the CBI on August 19, no proper results have been formulated.
Quoting the petition:
“Even in serious offences like murder the law stipulates filing of charge sheets in ninety days but in the present case the premium investigating agency has failed miserably in their role and the unnecessary delay in the present case is bringing bad name to the administration of justice not only in our country but across the globe.”
The petition seeks swift Results from CBI within 2 months.
