In the Supreme Court, a PIL has been filed seeking to quash the order dated November 13 of the Central Government which provides extension to the Director of Enforcement Directorate(ED), Sanjay Kumar Mishra.
It has also been sought in the petition that the new ED Director should be appointed in a transparent manner and also in accordance with the provision of Section 25 of the Central Vigilance Commission Act, 2003.
According to the petitioner, Mishra was appointed as the Director of ED on November 19,2018, for a period of two years. But on the contrary, his tenure is being extended by a year.
Also , it’s being contented in the petition that Mishra has already reached the retirement age of 60 in May 2020.
