In the month of September 2020, the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions issued order asking the pensioners to submit the Life Certificate from 1st November, 2020 to 31st December, 2020.
But due to the numerous petitions from various Pensioners’ Associations as well as individuals’ requests as the concern around the the vulnerability of elderly population to Corona Virus due the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic was a real issue, the Department issued Circular further extending the period for submission of Life Certificate by pensioners till Feb 28, 2021.
Objective
- The above measures are expected to avoid rush at branches, stagger the submission of the LCs by the elderly population while maintaining social distancing and to that extent, prevent the spread of Corona virus.
The Pension Disbursing Authorities are asked to comply with this Office Memorandum and publicise the same amongst pensioners. PDAs are also asked to ensure proper arrangements and social distancing measures at the branches and prevent overcrowding.
