NGT imposes a total ban on firecrackers in NCR from midnight of November 9-10

NGT has banned all the activities related to fireworks including use and sale, in the National Capital Region from midnight of 9th November to midnight of 31st November.

The tribunal in its order stated that the order will be reconsidered on December 1. This order has been passed in a suo moto case related to the pollution caused by the use of fireworks.

The NGT further added that this order will be applicable to those cities also where the quality of Air is in the Poor category.

The tribunal added that in cities where the air quality is ‘Moderate’ or below, only green fireworks should be allowed to use only for 2 hours on the day of the festival.

The tribunal has passed this order by applying the sustainable development and precautionary principles.
