The Supreme Court has issued directions to hold on with the removal of Congress’s Kamal Nath as star campaigner. The court has held that the election commission has no power in this regard. Election Commission is not given the power to decide which candidate should be present in the star campaigner list. The court questioned “where does the election commission get power to decide the leader of the political party?” The Election commission said it would file a response as early as possible.
On October 30, Kamal Nath was questioned by the Election Commission for his series of controversial remarks. The Election commission said that he has conducted a repeated violation of moral code. He also completely disregarded the warning given to him. He has breached ethical and dignified behavior. On 31st October, Kamal Nath challenged the Election Commission’s order. His contention was that the order of the commission is violating his fundamental right of expression and movement.
