
The Delhi Government has approved a budget of more than Rs. 40 Crores under the Chief Minister Advocate Welfare Scheme which was announced last year.
Delhi’s Law Minister on Friday announced that the welfare scheme will provide life insurance and medical insurance to resident-Advocates.
As per the approved policy, New India Insurance, and Oriental Insurance, will provide medical coverage to the advocates. Further, LIC will be providing life insurance to the beneficiary advocates as per the rates approved by the court. The premium of these policies will be paid by the Delhi Government.
Under the scheme practicing advocates shall receive a Term Insurance of Rs. 10,00,000 per advocate and Rs. 5,00,000 as Medi-Claim for the advocates’s family.
The decision comes after the proposal of a 13 member committee formed by the Delhi Government headed by Senior Advocate Rakesh Kumar Khanna. The Law Ministry of the Government of NCT of Delhi shall be the nodal agency for operating these schemes.
