Jailed Maoist leader allowed controlled use of Internet in jail to prepare for his own cases

Prisoned Maoist leader roopesh, was allowed to access the internet for 45 minutes in a week to prepare for his case by accessing the official websites of the supreme court and high courts.
This permission is granted to him because he conducts his cases by himself as party-in-person.

In his petition, he submitted that being an under trial prisoner, he has the right to access the internet in a supervised manner. he further submitted that the right to use the internet is a fundamental right under article 19 of the Indian constitution, which was declared by the supreme court in a recent case.
The petition was allowed by the court and directed the superintendent of central prison, viyyur, to place the computer in that area where the CCTV covers the screen of the desktop to prevent the misuse of the internet.
