EPCA recommends an action plan to control air pollution in the coming years.

The EPCA, mandated by the Supreme Court, has proposed that the Apex Court should apply the guidelines more strictly in the years ahead to stop stubble burning, implement the parking policy and massively increase public transport in Delhi-NCR to control the air pollution.

The Pollution Watchdog reported to the SC last month that both in-situ and ex-situ measures such as the provision of incentives and machines for farmers to manage crop residue have to be taken.

The Authority has stressed the need for transition to clean fuel for combustion in the industry throughout the NCR and restriction on the use of coal as the main polluting contributor in the region.

The EPCA has proposed steps to combat air pollution during the upcoming years to introduce, as a matter of time and as a matter of urgency, SC guidelines on the Delhi Metro Phase IV, building various phases of the Regional Rapid Transport System (RRTs) and increasing buses in Delhi.
