
Alphabet Inc’s Google is up facing antitrust case in India wherein a U.S. tech giant has been alleged reportedly abussing its Android operating system’s position in the smart television market, a source, and two lawyers involved in the case reported to Reuters.
This is Google’s 4th big challenge in India, a crucial market in which local startups are currently being criticised for adopting policies and corporate charges that hinder their progress.
Google is facing fresh antitrust threats in the USA and a possible antitrust inquiry in China that is expected to look into how it claims to leverage the Android smartphone operating system predominance to hamper competition. Google declined any misconduct or abuse of position.
Two Indian attorneys, Kshitiz Arya and Purushottam Anand, have filed the lawsuit. They confirmed Google’s lawsuit for suspected harassment in the smart TV market but refused to elaborate further.
