Plea Seeking Home Based Exam for CLAT Rejected by Delhi High Court

A single bench of the Delhi High Court comprising Justice Jayant Nath has dismissed a plea seeking home based exam for CLAT 2020. The court observed that a home based exam would increase the chances of manipulation and carrying out unfair practices.

The court further stated that it would not be appropriate and fair for approximately 78,000 students to take a home based exams as all might not have the same means for taking it. Observing that the plea filed by the petitioner is misplaced and cannot be a ground for postponing or change in mode of conduct, the court dismissed the plea.

The Petitioner had argued that he suffers from asthma and belongs to the vulnerable category of individuals who are advised by the Government not to go expose themselves to the outside environment in the current times. The respondents in response stated that all reasonable medical precautions will be taken as suggested by the authorities to avoid any untoward situation.
