The defence minister of India Rajnath Singh and the Wei fenghi the Chinese defence minister, they both meet in Moscow amid ladakh tensions.

They both attended the three-days event, the first high – level contact of its kind since a serious stand off erupted between the two countries in ladakh in may.

Chinese defence minister had asked for the meeting on the sidelines of a Shanghai Co-operation Organisation ( SCO ) meet in Russia.

Mr. Singh said before in a message that peace and security in the region demands a climate of trust, non – aggression, peaceful resolution of differences and respect for international rules.

The defence secretary Ajay kumar and Indian Ambassador to Russia D B Venkatesh Varma were part of the Indian delegation at the talks that began at around 9:30 pm and the meeting lasted for 2 and- a – half hours.

India and xhina, they both are the members of SCO or Shanghai Co-operation Organisation, in the presence of china’s defence minister, Mr. Singh said climate of a trust and co-operation, non – aggression , respect for international rules and norms, Mr. singh said in the ministerial meet of the SCO.

The SCO is a group of eight – nations which is regional grouping that primarily focuses on security and defence issues.

External affairs ministers S Jaishankar has also held talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang yi on the phone.

In June, 20 soldiers laid down their lives for India in a clash with Chinese troops at Galwan Valley and China also suffered on unspecified number of casuality ties.

Last saturday, Chinese troops tried to occupy territory in the south bank of panghong lake.

Indian forces were prepared and prevented these attempts to unilaterally alter th status quo” at the  LAC, the government said.

There was separate message from the foregin secretary Harsh Vardhan Shingla, that there will be no compromise on India’s sovereignty and territorial  integrity, and asserted it cannot be “business as usual” in bilateral ties unless there is peace and tranquility in the border areas. At the same time, he said India is open to resolving outstanding issues through dialogues.
