The Delhi High Court bench comprising of Justices Hima Kohli and Subramonium Prasad. not okay with the illegal detention of a man even after he got bail called upon the Tihar Jail officials for detaining a man even after he got bail in the cheque bounce case on May 18. The whole matter is related to a cheque bounce case in which a man was granted bail by a trial court on May 18. But even after he was granted bail, he was released only on June 25 from the jail.
The High Court pulled up the jail authority for failing to release a man from the jail after he got bail. The High Court also directed to pass an order to provide special training to the jailers about their duties has further directed the Delhi State of Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) to make the requisite arrangements for online training for the jail officials. The court also directed to make arrangements for providing special training to the jail officials regarding the obligations and rights of prisoners.
In the meantime, the jail authorities of the Tihar Jail have seeked a genuine apology to the Delhi High Court over the matter.
The bench directed for such training for the jail officials. The bench also said that such training is very much needed to prevent a repeat of such incidents further.
As per the training program the jail superintendents, deputy superintendents, assistant superintendents will be a part of the specialized training program.
The Tihar jail authorities have submitted before the court that they have appointed 14 law officers on a contractual basis to provide the special training to the jail officials.
