Delhi High Court Directed the Central Government to give the details of the mechanism it is going to adopt for the registration of the migrant workers. The Delhi Government submitted that while there are no registrations under the Inter State migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1979, there are 39,600 registrations for Building and other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996. The construction workers under the aforementioned act were provided with financial assistance during the lockdown period.
The Union of India further contended that that they are trying to come up with a uniform registration format for the registration of migrant workers. Taking into account all the submissions the Court directed the Delhi Government to file an affidavit which provides details about the proposed software.
