The Madras HC hereby clarified that it is convinced to not conduct the Class X exams from June 15th. The bench Justice Vineet Kothari and Justice R Suresh Kumar wondered if the State could conduct exams without putting the students at risk.
Tamil Nadu High and Higher Secondary School Graduate Teachers Association challenged the State’s decision to conduct exams immediately, and hence the Court heard the case. “We cannot allow the state to put lives of more than nine lakh students at stake. This is not like opening Tasmac shops during the lockdown,” the court said.
The plea urged the Court to reconsider the conducting of examinations amidst the increasing number of cases. The plea asked for the postponement of exam by two months since everyone helping in the conduct of exams would be put at risk. MDMK chief Vaiko said, “The government must promote all Class X students.”
